All-purpose salad dressing

1 cup oil, preferably olive oil
cup vinegar
1 teaspoons salt
teaspoon freshly ground pepper
teaspoon sugar

Combine ingredients in a jar; shake to dissolve sugar and salt. Use to dress lettuce or other vegetable salads, or as a marinade for grilling or broiling meat. Makes 1 cups. Serve with grilled marinated flank steak and new potatoes.
